Riot has an entire team dedicated to monetizing and scummy practices like the psychology behind their players spending habits so that they can further squeeze money out of us using psychological manipulation (through things like a BP, a knife +skin in a bundle basically being the price of the bundle itself, etc.) The fact that the prices haven’t been lowered for like 2 years means that enough people are using the store, meaning the prices are clearly justified. Now even in the best case where everyone who can buy, buys, riot still earns just 50+20+20+20+20 = 130 bucks. Now let's assume the same bundle is worth 50, and the knife etc are worth 20 each. This will earn riot a minimum of 100+40+40 = 180 bucks.

Here's what I think riot's skin model is-Īssume there are 10 people, and they launch a skin/knife worth 40 bucks in a bundle worth 100 bucks. Of these, they host tournaments of the level of masters and champions. Add some give or take overhead for infrastructure and server maintenance, and round it off at 150 million dollars. That's already a minimum 125 million in salaries.

Assuming all the engineers and designers etc, let's assume a base c2c of 50k/year per employee (remember, software engineers may start well from 80k onwards). Stop reposting the same ideas on the subreddit over and over again. Riot employs both people and infrastructure which cater to the majority playerbase for free, for which the p2p playerbase pays. These complains would be eligible maybe for an indie studio, but not something you wouldn't expect from an AAA studio. Servers won't stay up by themselves, they're maintained by engineers. It's almost like everybody turns a blind eye to the fact that this is the only way riot has managed to keep the game free for all players, given how little fraction of the playerbase actually ever buys skins outside the battle passes. If you can buy, buy, if you can't, I'm sorry.
